New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday revealed the appointment of 26 match officials for the first-round matches T20 World Cup In 2024, it will be held in the West Indies and the United States from June 1.
The panel consists of 20 referees and six match referees who will oversee the proceedings of the ninth edition of this prestigious event.
Notably, this tournament will feature a record 20 teams, with a total of 55 games played at nine venues over 28 days. This makes it the largest ICC T20 World Cup in the history of the tournament.
The list of match referees includes Ranjan Madugalle, who will officiate the 2022 England-Pakistan final and is the most experienced referee in the tournament. Jeff Crowe.
ICC General Manager Cricket, Wasim Khan, reviewed the selection of match officials for this historic event.
“We are delighted to announce that our team of match referees and officiating will participate in the historic ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Among the selected teams, we have a group of experienced match officials and other high-performing members who are renowned for their strong And a performance that is recognized for its stable performance,” he said, according to a release from the ICC.
“The throughput of the Pathways program will continue to see the development and emergence of high-quality match officials across the entire tournament. With 20 teams and 55 matches played over 28 days, this will be the largest T20 World Cup ever and we are excited about that. We are proud of the team we have assembled and believe our officials will perform well and we wish them all the best in what will be a very exciting competition.
