Delhi Police on Friday made its first arrest in the deepfake video case involving Amit Shah. The accused, Arun Reddy, was in charge of one of the Congress’ social media accounts.
According to police sources, Reddy was handling the Congress Spirit X account.

The Delhi Police, also under the Ministry of Home Affairs, filed an FIR in the case under sections 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (provocation of enmity between different groups on account of religion, race, place of birth) of the Indian Penal Code, place of residence , language, etc.), 465 (forgery), 469 (forgery that damages the reputation of any party) and 171G (publication of false statements with intent to influence the outcome of an election) and the Information Technology Act.
The FIR was lodged against certain handles on social media platforms that edited Shah’s statement to falsely suggest that the minister advocated ending reservation in the country.
The move comes a day after BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya said the Congress party in Telangana was circulating an edited video of Shah, “The video Totally false and has the potential to trigger mass violence. In a post on X, Malviya clarified that Home Minister Shah was only talking about removing unconstitutional reservations for Muslims based on religion.

5 arrested in Hyderabad
Hyderabad police on Friday said they have arrested five Telangana Congress social media activists in connection with a recent morphing video that went viral.
The accused were produced before a local court, which granted them bail on the condition that each of them submit two sureties worth Rs 10,000 each and appear before the inquiry on Monday and Friday until further orders.
According to a statement issued by the police, they received a complaint from a state leader of the BJP on April 27 alleging that the Telangana Congress Party had posted on its Deformed or fabricated videos during the session.
