Khan, 72, issued a “final call” on November 13 for nationwide protests on November 26 to demand the restoration of PTI’s electoral mandate, the release of detained party members and the overturning of the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
Responding to his call, thousands of PTI workers arrived in Islamabad but were met with a crackdown by police, who forcibly dispersed them and arrested more than 1,400 people.
Dawn reported that at a hearing on Friday, the court granted them Rs 5,000 bail each.
Earlier, on January 3, the ATC granted bail to 250 protesters, while on January 6, as many as 192 PTI workers lodged in Jhelum District Jail were released after their bail applications were accepted by the ATC in Islamabad.
According to police, the cases of many other detained PTI workers are ongoing and more bail may be released in the coming weeks.
Khan has been placed in adiala jail There have been several cases in Rawalpindi since mid-2023. PTI has been at loggerheads with the federal government since the February 2024 elections.
The November 26 protest was another attempt by his party in the past few months.
