I was hoping to play well against RCB so that Virat Kohli

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy had an outstanding season in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL).

This was his breakout year, with good performances that came about as a result of both his batting and bowling.

Furthermore, Reddy’s efforts with the bat were notable; he managed to put together 303 runs from thirteen matches. As if this was not enough, he also took three wickets which made him an all-rounder in every sense.

His contributions during the tournament went a long way to facilitating SRH’S progress to IPL final of 2024 where they were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders in the end.

Reddy’s journey is more than just numbers; it is a story of adoration for cricketing legends who have moulded his dreams. In particular, he has openly admitted that Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are two players whom he looks up to most therefore holding Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for ten years as his favorite team.

“I really admire Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. I’ve been a huge fan of RCB for the last 10 years. In 2023, I had the chance to meet Virat Kohli. I didn’t want much from him apart from shaking hands and getting his signature on my cap. He should notice my game when we play against RCB this year so that in 2024 Virat Kohli will see me perform well against them. Although I did not get a chance to bat in that match, after shaking hands at the presentation ceremony, he called me by name… That meant so much” Reddy revealed ESPNcricinfo.

In addition, Hardik Pandya reached out to Reddy post-IPL commending him on what he had done on field when they won their T20 World Cup as an all rounder.

“He texted me and said the energy and intent I had on the field was good and to keep respecting the game. He said we would talk soon. I was surprise when I received his message after IPL season, especially with him being busy with World Cup stuff. When it comes to being an all-rounder, Hardik Pandya and Ben Stokes are like my role models. Afterwards I replied thanking him for his message” concluded the youngster.

Reddy’s career changed following a performance in IPL that has not only endeared him to his heroes but also represented a landmark in his vocation.
