In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Abhishek shared that he big boss went home and discussed the special gift he received as a result of the show.
“I’m super excited. I expected there to be a lot of negative emotions after the show, but thankfully they were nothing compared to the overwhelming love and support I received. So many people reached out to me and said they Like me, even if they have reservations about the LGBTQ community, I believe I have been able to challenge some of the stereotypes about gay men and help others understand that we are just like everyone else.
When asked about his motivation for joining the show, Abhishek said that he joined the show to gain recognition.
“I had already won the title of Mr. Gay World, but unfortunately I didn’t get much recognition. I wanted to increase my visibility and participating in Bigg Boss seemed like the perfect opportunity. Even though it was late, To my surprise, I decided to contact a team member via email and was asked to attend an interview the day after the show was scheduled to start. I was told that I had already attended and received a phone call informing me that I had been replaced by someone else. , I naturally felt frustrated and lost hope, but what I didn’t expect was that I got another call from them inviting me, who went through a roller coaster journey and finally reached the Bigg Boss house.
Even on the day of his entry, Abhishek found himself embroiled in controversy after a verbal altercation with fellow contestant Abhishek Srikumar. Abhishek Sreekumar’s disrespectful remarks against the LGBTQ community were reported to have caused an uproar.
“Luckily, I haven’t faced a lot of bullying in my life before. This is the first time I’ve faced discrimination because of my sexual orientation. I was upset, which is understandable, but I made sure to treat Abu Shek responded appropriately to his remarks. Surprisingly, after our conversation, we actually became friends,” Abhishek clarified.
After this major fight, the next notable moment in Abhishek’s journey in the Bigg Boss house was his brave decision to come out as gay while on a mission. During one of the missions, Abhishek shared the fact that he was gay with his roommates and revealed the fact that his father was unaware of his sexual orientation.
“I am ready to face the consequences. My only intention is that if I can stand up on such an important platform, it might inspire at least one person to embrace themselves,” Abhishek said.
Another highlight occurred on the 50th day of the show when he received a handwritten letter from his mother. In this heartfelt letter, his mother expressed her immense pride in him, and it undoubtedly became one of Abhishek’s most cherished moments at home.
“I came out to my mother just days before going on the show. We didn’t have much time to discuss it thoroughly. Of course, like any parent, she was saddened by the news. That letter was her message to me. Initial reaction to the reveal.
The most important gift awaited Abhishek after the show – a heart-touching text message from his father. To Abhishek’s immense joy and surprise, his father finally accepted him for who he was. “I will not go against your choice. I will always be by your side. All your joys and sorrows will also be mine… No matter what happens, I will always be with you,” Abhishek said He read his father’s heartfelt message aloud.
“Agan called me many times, but I didn’t dare to answer the phone. When I came out to participate in the show, he called my mother and told her that I could never use my last name. However, his message made me cry I am so happy, words cannot explain this feeling,” shared Abhishek.
