The Federal Council President, Jagdeep Dhankar has strongly criticized the TMC leadership; Derek O’Brien and other opposition leaders who were angered by the chaos that arose due to a demand to discuss Vinesh Phogat being disqualified for Paris Olympics.
The opposition walked out of the House after their demands to discuss the matter were not met.
Dankar scolded O’Brien, saying: “Mr. Derek O’Brien, you are shouting at the chairman. Your behavior is the ugliest in the House. I condemn this behavior. I will kick you out next time.” Go outside.
Speaking about Fugate’s disqualification, Dankar said, “They (the opposition) think they are the only ones whose hearts are bleeding… The whole country is suffering because of this girl. Everyone is sharing This situation, but monetizing it, politicizing it, is the biggest disrespect to this girl and goes a long way.
Dhankar praised Haryana government’s decision to honor Vinesh Phogat who was disqualified for being overweight ahead of her 50kg gold medal match as if she was a medallist. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that she will get same award offered by state government for Olympic silver medallist.
Meanwhile Fugate announced her retirement from international wrestling saying she did not have enough strength to continue with it. The 29-year-old took to social media on Wednesday night immediately after being found 100 grams overweight just before her gold medal match against Japanese Mayu Mukaida and wrote a message apologising all those whom supported her and wanted them to forgive her.
“Mom, I won the wrestling game; I won the fight …I am sorry mother your dreams my courage burned off abhi” (mom wrestling defeated me I lost… my backbone is broken down and there isn’t any strength left),” wrote Vinesh in her social networking account.
“Alvida, kushti (goodbye wrestling 2001-2024),” she said.
“The opposition members are very reprehensible,” said Leader of the House, JP Nadda,
“The whole country stands with Vinesh Phogat. The Prime Minister yesterday called her the “champion of champions” and the Prime Minister’s voice represents the voice of 1.4 billion people. Unfortunately, we have a ruling party and an opposition in this country. Unfortunately, the opposition does not have any substantive issues that they want to discuss that the ruling party has prepared. I want to assure you that the Government of India, the Sports Ministry and the IOC try to Make corrections.
