Earlier last year Staneva lost to Jeremy Lin at World Championships where later results were turned into No Contest due to Lin’s disqualification. For coach Borislav Georgiev who is Bulgarian claims that gender debated affected judge towards Lam’s favour.

IOC backs judge
The Paris Boxing Unit (PBU) is interim unit created by International Olympic Committee Executive Board to oversee the Paris Boxing Games, and protect referees and judges. PBU emphasized its trust in referees and selection procedure for judges that consists of various screening steps, performance criteria and random draws. Moreover every game is review twice: one person watching the field while another reviews it using video.
Targeting Lin and Khalif
In France, Lin Yu Ting and Iman Khalif attracted plenty of attention partly due to their disqualification from 2023 world championships for not meeting stipulated gender eligibility requirements as per IBA.
Since seizing control of the boxing championship from IBA which had lost international recognition in 2023, the International Olympic Committee has been leading the fight for athletes’ rights.
Stop “Bullying” plea
Khalif has spoken out against a wave of hateful scrutiny over misunderstandings about her gender, saying it “undermines human dignity”. She called for an end to bullying of athletes and highlighted the serious impact such behavior can have.
“I send a message to people all over the world, and request of all athletes not to bully them; this act will haunt them for life,” he told Arabic language sports channel SNTV.
