On a personal level, he would have loved to have done more to carry Delhi Capitals through to the playoffs but for now, Kuldeep Yadav is part of India’s T20 World Cup team and will be heading to the US because he had a good Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Kuldeep divulged the changes that he has made in his bowling action during an IPL net session with Delhi Capitals on a JioCinema video.
Kuldeep revealed how he changed his technique while speaking to Uthappa, a former Indian international batsman and winner of the T20 World Cup.
“But one thing I have noticed in your bowling over these last 2-3 years is that you are not so high as you once were when you flighted deliveries,” replied Uthappa.
“It was my rhythm actually,” responded Kuldeep. “My ball does not drop in loop anymore because I now have this aggressive rhythm. Woh mai jab chahunga tab jayega, phenkne ki koshish karunga toh jayega, nahi to nahi jayega (it will go when I want; when I try to deliver like that, it will go otherwise not).
Kuldeep claimed 16 wickets from 11 innings for Delhi Capitals at IPL 2024 with best figures of 4/55, an economy rate of 8.65 and strike rate of 16.12; consequently, Delhi finished sixth on the points table.
Kuldeep discussed why he no longer needs to flight the ball that much anymore.
“In this particular type of rotation that I have right now, if am able to swing spin so much then there’s no need for me to flight it like how other spinners do. Sometimes you can do it only once or twice just for trapping but other than that you cannot continue delivering like that,” added him.
When it comes to the T20 World Cup in the US and Caribbean, where slow bowlers are expected to have a good time, Kuldeep will be joined by his fellow wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja.
India’s fixtures get underway from June 5 against Ireland followed by the big game with Pakistan on June 9. USA and Canada are the other two teams in India’s group.
