Rahul Dravid is a former great batsman who, while playing, had an excellent career and has received many standing ovations over the years.
As a coach, winning the T20 World Cup championship became his highest point as India’s captain.
Dravid did not win the ODI World Cup; he top-scored at 461 runs in the 1999 edition of that tournament. They played Australia in their final match in 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup where they were defeated by them.
India was led by Dravid during the 2007 ODI World Cup and it ended up being a big disappointment for him since we were eliminated by Bangladesh.
But failing to win any world cup title never compromised his status among cricket’s finest ever batters.
India under Dravid as coach destroyed every team that stood on its way in the 2023 ODI World Cup before falling at the last hurdle.
For Dravid quitting as Coach was not something he was willing to do but Captain Sharma convinced him until after T20 world cup.
Dravid made history as Indian team coach with their rise to No.1 position both Test and One Day International cricket with winning of the Twenty20 World Cup being just “icing on cake” ahead of his exit from Team India.
Therefore this must be a new Dravid who can get standing ovation for having won a world cup and whose character has always been known for humility and simplicity.
At some point, one young boy threw a ball at him while he was giving some words of wisdom at a cricket academy based in Bengaluru which went completely viral on social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter (In this particular case, one such standing ovation occurred when Dravid visited a cricket academy located in Bengaluru and somebody took a video of it that later went viral).
The video shows all persons present including Academy staff members receiving Dravid while entering academy grounds. This happened just some days ago where Dravid was seen as walking into an academy full of kids and the staff to whom he received flowers with loud claps and cheers.
As Dravid goes forward while thanking the staff, the learners who are lined up on both sides of the red carpet but have their bats uplifted in honor of him wave them through (as a sign of respect). To these he extended his hand for a handshake and in some cases even shook hands with some children before he continued on his way that looked simple but had great meaning in it.
According to numerous sources, Gautam Gambhir, a former Indian cricketer is believed to be next coach succeeding Rahul Dravid.
