In the ever changing Bollywood, where dreams of success are hard to come by and often short-lived, an actor’s destiny is sealed every Friday. Among other things, this has been a subject of debate for years now; though there continues to be a lot of talk about it even today with some star kids Even when they have the best starting point and lots of opportunities in their lives one may not make it into his career as an actor. By that means, ETimes examines why some star kids never succeed in show business…
Let us first go back to the (un)successful stories of these children stars…
Uday Chopra
The young heir to the Chopra dynasty made his entry into Bollywood in 2000 following the success of “Mohabbatein” but since then he struggles to get lead roles. He came into prominence through his portrayal of Ali in Dhoom series which was undoubtedly the high point of his acting career. He also appeared in Neal ‘n’ Nikki (2005), a forgettable film and before this moderately successful Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002). Discover the personality and gradually be erased from people’s memories (no longer act).

Tanisha Mukherjee
The acting career of Tanishaa Mukerji, who is Kajol’s sister and Tanuja’s daughter, started in 2003 with “Sssshhh…”; later, she played in films like “Neal ‘n’ Nikki” and Boss 7 aired for a while on Bigg. Even though she came from an extremely famous film family, she has not been able to do very well in Bollywood. However, Tanisha has since given up on her big or OTT screen appearances.
Puru Rajkumar
His first Bollywood release was Bal Bramhachari opposite Karisma Kapoor back in 1996 but his father Raaj Kumar success could not be emulated by him. While Puru tried her luck in films such as Mission Kashmir, she eventually turned her attention to non-entertainment business ventures.
Mimo Chakraborty
Mimoh Chakraborty had his maiden role in the unsuccessful movie Jimmy (2008). Mimo is a scion to important personalities such as his father Mithun Chakraborty but he had problems becoming a successful actor in Bollywood. He changed his name to Mahaakshay Chakraborty and kept trying to make it as an actor with varying degrees of success.
Aisha Dell
Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s eldest daughter Esha Deol made her debut as an actress during this year with Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe while being critically acclaimed for her performance. In spite of initial success in films like Dhoom and Yuva though, Esha has experienced tremendous fluctuations throughout the years making forgettable appearances like where were you?, Pyare Mohan”, “One Two Three”, etc. Esha became a professional dancer eventually moving into various creative industries thus raising two daughters Radhya and Miraya alongside Bharat Takhtani. They recently announced that they will be separating.
Malaika Arora’s photographs with Alexander Alex go viral amid rumors of a split with Arjun Kapoor, leading to speculation; the actor from ‘Singam Again’ shares cryptic post
Tashar Kapoor
Karisma Kapoor was his co-star in Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (2001) which marked Tusshar Kapoor’s entry into commercial cinema as Jeetendra’s son. Tusshar also had moderate success as he starred in blockbusters like Golmaal series and Khakee. He has also seen many flops such as Kucch To Hai, Gayab, Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa, Life Partner and etc. Things however changed when he entered film production by helping out with projects such as Lakshmi.

Arya Babar
Although she made her acting debut in 2002 with “Ab Ke Baras”, Arya Babbar the son of Raj Babbar, still failed to make it big in Bollywood. Later he moved into theatre and writing, as he looked for different ways of expressing himself away from the mainstream film.
Kumar Gaurav
Kumar Gaurav, Rajendra Kumar’s son, rose to stardom in 1981 when his Love Story created a sensation. His next films were reasonably successful i.e. “Terry Kassam.” However, others didn’t do well as before. Consequently, he changed focus to business ventures showing how uncertain a career in Bollywood can be and the importance of not relying on acting solely for income.

Harman Baweja
Love Story 2050, His debut film in the Bollywood film industry in 2008 failed to live up to its hype and expectations. Despite appearing in Victory and What’s Your Rakhi afterward. Harman Baweja however struggled to revive his career in movies such as What’s Your Raashee? (2011) among others though he finally quit commercial cinema due to this reason. Afterward, he returned with an OTT series known as “Scoop”, where he played a corrupt police officer; other than acting, the talented Harman found his niche as a producer and was highly successful.
flash kana
Born to Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, Twinkle Khanna is the eldest daughter of the two parents and made her movie debut at age 20 with Bobby Deol when she starred on “Barsaat” produced by Dharmendra. She also featured in Baadshah alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Meera opposite Aamir Khan. Nevertheless, Twinkle had all sorts of divine darlings but she soon realized that acting wasn’t her cup of tea though it soon became evident that she had no passion for acting whatsoever; she married her co-actor Akshay Kumar later that year and is now an interior decorator cum bookseller cum mother. Rinke Khanna too has been unable to replicate their parents’ fate doing little more than getting married elsewhere.

There is no assurance of success whether or not you are a celebrity child.
Besides nepotism arguments, it is sometimes viewed as involving an internal push but at the end of the day, it’s about talent plus luck plus the right opportunity. “Success in life – talents and luck are two factors that determine this for every person regardless who he or she might be and it doesn’t depend on a social background – said famous Indian director Ramesh Taurani. For example, star kids have a higher chance of getting to meet film producers, sometimes even multiple times but apart from that there is little else to boast of. Trade analyst Atul Mohan agreed with this point adding: It’s not made up by anybody its something u r born with. We’ve all heard this before, and it’s true.
Learning along the way
A lot of children of celebrities confess to making bad choices in their first movies and never being able to correct them later. Mimoh, son actor Mithun made his acting debut in 2008 through Jimmy had this to say about his entry into Bollywood: “I was responsible for Jimmy going wrong completely. I wasn’t ready for it. I took everything very lightly. I wasn’t serious enough during those days. Years back I didn’t pay much attention; today I did so Every day comes with its study which points towards success.
Anyways some admit rather brutally that they were so horrendous at what they were doing that they decided to call it quits at the end of the day but they then released autobiographical books.. Twinkle Khanna who is known for her sarcasm said during one of her book releases: “I haven’t done a single hit film till now… Ban any movie that I have acted in.” Much time she pretends amnesia concerning her celluloid career which also makes me happy. Even though Twinkle says she doesn’t act anymore on the show like Koffee With Karan. Very happy.

Various explanations exist for success
Additionally, it should be understood that people have different benchmarks in determining a successful person and this is okay. Mimoh further said, “If you were to ask me this question 10 years ago (about the issue of less success), I would probably give you a very bitter answer. Nevertheless, with age comes an understanding that life has its ups and downs. , yes up sometimes, no down but the only thing is you must keep paddling in the sea and do some good work. So did actors like Tusshar Kapoor.. As well as single parents-turned-producers who are also making their way in their respective careers, they communicate that not every triumph belongs to the professional world alone.
The struggle to succeed is intense
Besides this, there is abundant pressure on star kids to excel since they must live according to their wealthy backgrounds. However, not everyone can understand this and it may hinder them from finding themselves. Some time back Harman Baweja told mid-day during an interview “I feel that media has been completely unfair towards me” After finishing my first few films I had written series of (“It’s business but it hurts when it gets too personal”). To make sure my mum doesn’t see these I sometimes ensure either bringing newspapers or papers home. But I stopped because things were actually not going as well as they had earlier happened. Today, my family who used to avoid reading newspaper now eagerly waits for next one containing my story.

Does the plea that nepotism has a basis hold water?
The debate on nepotism has been around for ages without dying down. Nevertheless, not all star kids make it even with their lineage. This is expressed by Aditya Chopra who is usually quiet and shy as a director and producer in his Netflix documentary “The Romantics”. He said, “One thing that people tend to overlook is that everyone who comes from a privileged background is not successful. I can put it like this because I’m talking about myself only. For example, I can say this about my own family. To express such sentiment My brother is an actor, but he’s no very good actor. Isn’t it amazing? The same goes for YRF which launches so many new faces; yet we fail to make him a star. Why don’t we do it ourselves? Ultimately” the viewer decides “I like this individual and want to see him.” No one else does this either. He added further, “Yes, if you are born into a film family then definitely getting an audition or breaking in maybe easier but that’s where it stops.
Choose correct quote
“Star kids becoming famous”- Casting director Kunal M Shah said: “This argument about why they are not being successful in movies is crucial & one of the main reasons behind it she says was choosing wrong films or scripts.” On the contrary, others think (some) star kids have too much privilege, sometimes leading to… disastrous consequences.”Some star kids collapse because of their attitude problems from the very beginning itself–even before starting off their career paths as actors.” To be successful in this trade one needs both talent and humility,” says Atul Mohan a trade analyst.
Achieving success outside acting
Moreover, some star children have ventured into other areas beyond acting thereby proving that sometimes acting doesn’t come with everything else at all. However, while Tusshar Kapoor has found his calling in production, Harman Baweja is now a fairly successful producer. On the other hand, Twinkle Khanna alias Mrs. Funny Bones is a best-selling author and columnist known for her relatable content. She also did her MA in Fiction Writing at the University of London recently at age fifty! Similarly, Uday Chopra debuted as a producer at the Cannes Film Festival with Nicole Kidman and Tim Roth in 2014. Additionally, he founded Yomics World which is the comic wing of Yash Raj Film Studios apart from this.
