Bollywood actor Shreyas Thapade
While busy promoting his latest film Kartam Bhugtam, he disclosed how he was in a relationship with Shah Rukh Khan when they did ‘Om Shanti Om’.Shreyas talks about being a Newcomer At that time, SRK would ask him about business matters and quotes, and he didn’t know how to respond.
“I will start from the beginning”, Talpade told Kannan. “Whenever we as a team met at hotel for lunch or dinner, one could always expect Shah Rukh to lead this discussion over food”. “In other words,” Shreyas added, “he would tell us of one production house which offered a huge amount”. He said: “And then there was another production house who called the next day with an offer ‘Openly discussing your subject material’ What do you think?” I replied:“You should know what is right because you are Shah Rukh Khan.”
Then came in Shreya’s story on how SRK rejected more money-making opportunities saying that he did not want to leave the dealer to suffer because of high fee for him. He could have easily gone ahead with another competing envirnment making more money but he turned down such offers and argued that it would hurt the dealer since these dealers make good profit out of their fees.
Shreyas shared, “So I said, whoever pays the most goes for it… In the end, he chose a production company that wasn’t the highest bidder. It was halfway through, so I asked, ‘Shah, why didn’t you go with the highest bidder?'” Shreyas shared. ”And then tomorrow if that distributor’s movie doesn’t make any money at all then I am fine with that too. As long as my dealer benefits from this. So I am okay with getting this much for now. Money is a big thing for dealers. If I took everything away, it would be a big risk for them what the dealer would get. Now, when you’re three years into the industry, all of these things make a huge difference when you’re making a movie, promoting a movie. It is like those books that you keep going back to.
Shrias was all praises for Shah Rukh and revealed that he learned a lot from the superstar. He never made me feel like superstar when I met him first. “He made me feel very comfortable and I was able to discuss anything with him.” “He made me comfortable by being my friend throughout,” Shreyas added.“In fact”, said Talpade, “he treats me normally as one would treat anyone else”.
