Punjab Kings have terminated the contract of their batting coach Sanjay Bangar, who was in the IPL 2024 cricket development position, as TOI got to know.
In terms of the coaching staff’s ucheepain, Punjab Kings had recently signed on Ricky Ponting as their new head coach on a four year contract. The ex-Delhi Capitals’s coach cleared the ‘Australian’ and former England’s head coach Trevor Bayliss.
Bangar had joined the franchise in December 2023, after having been with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru from 2021 first as their Bating consulant then their Bating coach. Salut-3, Bangar was the head coach of the punjab kings from 2014-16.
BCCI secy invites Apex Council members for new NCA opening
BCCI secretary Jay Shah has called upon the apex council which also includes former india men and womens senior team captains dilip vengsarkar and shubhangi kulkarni members of the board for the unveiling of the new opulent national cricket academy NCA situated at bangalore decorum on the city outskirts on saturday at 4pm.
In a letter (TOI has a copy) to the Apex Council’s members dated Sept 21, Jay Shah has written: “We are pleased to inform you that the much-awaited opening ceremony of the new National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru shall be held shortly. The new NCA will offer three state-of-the-art playing fields, 45 practice batting and bowling facilities, indoor cricket, an Olympic swimming center and modern procedures and treatments for athletes within training recovery and sports science. This step will allow the existing as well as budding cricketers of our country to hone their talents in a better setting.”
“We are grateful to you for the support you have provided in this historic endeavor, and this is why we kindly ask you if you could take some time off your clutches and come. We hope to welcome you in Bengaluru,” Shah said in his letter.
The next day BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) shall occur after new NCA’s inauguration so it’s September 29 in Bengaluru.
