The Kremlin on Thursday sent a sharp ced to western countries warning them that under the new nuclear calculus, Moscow reserves the right to use nuclear weapons even against countries that are not nuclear armed.
Such a measure is for countries that are aiding Ukraine towards its war against Russia.
Indeed, making changes in the nuclear policy is a message to the western countries: Peskov
As reported by the spokesman at the Russian president’s office, Dmitry Peskov, some changes in the nuclear policy document of Russia titled: Eastern approaches and perspectives. How about turning Russia’s entire top-doctor factory into operational. “The Foundations of State Policy in the Sphere of Nuclear Deterrence” made during the briefing. When a reporter asked if that was indeed the aim of the policy changes, he replied, “This is to be referred to as a clear signal.”
He continued, “This is the kind of message that serves as a warning to these countries on what the repercussions would be if they decided to take a coalition approach by other means which are not necessarily nuclear warfare and wage war on the inviolability of this nation.”
Peskov underscored the global scale of the issue and stated that the “unique adversarial showdown” is happening in the world and it’s caused by the “direct participation of Western countries including nuclear ones” in the war in Ukraine.
As for the issue of the modified nuclear documents, Peskov stated then people would, at some point, make one.
The franchise follows through on its threats to increase the list of military threats justifying nuclear weapons use and takes the concept of deterrence to encompass more states and military alliances. In the opinion of the Kremlin, the new polity is captured in two documents that are alive.
Nuclear bounty hunter Putin declares, Non-nuclear states attacking with nuclear allies would be considered as ‘joint attack’.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, while meeting senior officials, admitted that the amendments related to the nuclear doctrine have already been worked out. He observed that these amendments provide an understanding of the scenarios under which the Russian state would deploy nuclear arms.
‘What I would especially like to draw your attention to, is that in the updated version of the document, ignorance is proposed. The arms race has come to a new level and the aggression of any non-nuclear state against the territory of the Russian Federation, but with atomic nation’s participation or assistance, is to be recognized as their joint aggression against its Federation,’ he said.
When given and where the order is pronounced is of great significance as Western allies and other countries notably the US and UK are still considering whether instructions should be given to Ukraine on the existence of long-range weapon use with specific focus on Russian domain.
Putin’s statement seems to be a rejoinder to these deliberations, emphasizing multiply that Russia is prepared to consider any aggression of a non-nuclear power to where a nuclear power is present as a direct aggression against Russia.
The Kremlin has not yet decided on the communicative strategy with regard to the amended nuclear doctrine, so the ‘amendment’ remains within the walls of the Kremlin. Nevertheless, the introduction of such a new policy is obvious that Russia is taking a step further up upon nuclear deterrence in the context of ongoing war in Ukraine.
