The scope of work of this Memorandum of Understanding is to establish center of excellence In the field of artificial intelligence (Al), robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0, 3D printing and joint technologies for competency training and R&D centers government polytechnic and Maharashtra Government Engineering College and sought funding from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and other governments. Ashwini Vaishnaw also praised Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Dada Patil for his initiative and willingness to set up the CoE, which has received active support from the department. Vaishnaw, while addressing the MoU signing ceremony, emphasized the importance of aligning education with industry needs.
Highlighting Patil’s foresight in recognizing the industrial prowess of Maharashtra and the need to equip its youth with relevant skills in today’s economy, he said, “The industrial prowess of Maharashtra has 150-200 years of industrial base, the framework focuses on practical and technical education, perfectly aligned with the new education policy.
Maharashtra has laid a strong foundation through its well-established network of polytechnics, ITIs and higher education institutions that have developed the necessary capabilities to accommodate centers of excellence in emerging technologies, e.g. AIrobotics and the Internet of Things. It is based on these developed capabilities that the Maharashtra government was able to seek funding from the central government. This proposal has been actively supported and implemented by MeitY to ensure that Maharashtra can develop education and innovation in cutting-edge technologies. in a leading position.
The program is expected to create significant opportunities for students, providing them with the necessary skills and job placement to succeed in the rapidly evolving technology field. The Government of Maharashtra has a total of 40 government polytechnics and 300 private polytechnics in the state. The state government through the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education has established a Center of Excellence for IoT at 6 Govt. 3 Govt. Institute of Technology and Center of Excellence in Robotics and Automation Institute of Technology. In the remaining govt. The Polytechnic Center of Excellence will be established through funds provided by this MoU.

Dr. Vinod Mohitkar, Director, Maharashtra State Technical Education Department, Dr. Pramod Naik, Director, Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY ) Additional Secretary Abhishek Singh and various officials from MeitY were present at the meeting.
