Microsoft is said to be bringing its mobile game store to Xbox, which will feature titles such as Candy Crush, Minecraft, and more. Sarah Bond, the President of Xbox confirmed this at Bloomberg Technology Summit that in July the company would introduce Xbox Mobile Game Store.
Google Play Store and Apple App Store have been Microsoft’s focus. It’s not a choice we have yet; it is the first time we got a fixed date for the launch of Xbox Mobile Game Store.
This will not be an app native to Xbox Games Store
The forthcoming release of the Xbox Game Store sees Bond highlight that it will neither be a natural Android nor iOS application but instead a browser based application.
This way Microsoft can make sure that it becomes globally available at all devices, for every user. To begin with, Microsoft could choose the Native Android app store route. The iOS case isn’t that simple though.
Hence the European Union has already compelled Apple accept third party app stores in Europe; here microsoft may decide to launch xbox store in these areas while other regions may lack this kind of an app store. The web-based approach makes it global through international distribution channels by Microsoft.
However, how this game will ever go out there has still not been decided Bong was quite generous with his information on what should be expected from the coming xbox game store but did not say anything about how games could be distributed via this platform. This means that “manifest” does not install APK file directly (if android) or redirect you to playstore or appstore for installation upon clicking download button.
