New Delhi: With great performance, Indian table tennis star Manika Batra reached the quarter finals of Saudi Arabia Smash defeating world No. 14 Nina Mittelham German in jeddah on Wednesday.
Earlier in the second round, she defeated world no. Wang Manyu and Batra’s excellent showed no sign of slowing down as she comfortably beat her opponent Mittelham 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 within a very short period of time taking only 22 minutes to make it into the quarter-finals for the first time.
It was her first win over Mittelham in four matches and set up an interesting clash with Japan’s Hayata Hina who is ranked number five in the world.
Batra has previously caused panic when she beat Chinese player Wang Jianlin by a scoreline of 6-11, 11-5, 11-7, 12-10 thus clubbing out one of Chinese favourites. She easily threw away Romanian Andrea Dragoman at first stage with scores standing at; 11andand6,13andand118.
