Kolkata Knight Riders‘ (KKR) batsman Venkatesh Iyer was in a playful mood while the KKR squad was en route to Ahmedabad for their next Indian Premier League (IPL) match. The table-toppers will take on 2022 champions, Gujarat Titans, at the Narendra Modi Stadium later today (Monday).

In a video posted by KKR on social media, the upbeat mood of the squad was evident.
The two-time champions became the first team to book a place in the playoffs after their win over Mumbai Indians in their last match.
KKR have 18 points from nine wins in 12 matches and sit on top of the table, with two matches left to play.
The video captures moments of KKR’s journey from Kolkata to Ahmedabad. En route, their plane flew over Ranchi as the pilot announced that to draw the attention of the players. That’s when a jovial Venkatesh said: “Mahi (MS Dhoni) bhai ka ghar dikh raha hai kya (can Dhoni’s home be seen from up here)?”
Dhoni, the legendary former captain of India and Chennai Super Kings, lives in Ranchi.

KKR’s next opponents, Gujarat Titans, are only mathematically alive in the race to playoffs with 10 points in 12 matches. Gujarat won the title in their debut season in 2022 and finished runners-up last year — both under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya.
Hardik left Gujarat and joined Mumbai Indians earlier this year, which led to Gujarat naming Shubman Gill as their new skipper.
