Punch: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah urges Pakistan stop terrorism claiming it would not bring any change to the local area.
According to Farooq, “Terrorism will not help anyone. If our neighbor (Pakistan) thinks they can bring about change by sending these terrorists across (the border), then it will never happen,” he told Parami News.
The National Conference president added: “Today, five Army soldiers lost their lives and five others were seriously injured (under treatment) in the hospital. How will (the situation) change at the border?”
His response was Katua Terrorist attack. On July 9, five Army soldiers were killed and many others injured in an ambush by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Katta district.
Farooq harshly criticized Pakistan, saying: “…This country is in chaos. Fighting will only bring destruction to both countries. Please stop this terrorism. This terrorism is condemne across the world”.
He also emphasized that no country in the world today will condone terrorism.
“Today there is no one country in the world who accepts terrorism anymore; Everybody fights against it; What good does Pakistan gain from engaging itself with terrorism? Families of those who died today are going to cry”, NC chief added.
On resumption of dialogue between two nations’ possibility he replied that, “Let there be dialogue but only when we do away with terrorism as a nation. We too feel that there should be dialogues between them and us but if we want peace” On the other hand…Pakistan should take measures (Stop Terrorism).
Meanwhile, President Durupadi Murmu also condemned the terrorist attack in Kathua that claimed the lives of five Army personnel.
“The attack by terrorists on a convoy of Army personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district is a cowardly act that deserves condemnation and firm countermeasures. My condolences to the families of the brave men who have laid down their lives in this ongoing war Sympathize with the fight against terrorism in all its forms and I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” the president wrote in a post on X.
Since June 9, terrorist attacks have occurred in Resi, Kathua and as many as four places, killing nine pilgrims and a Central Reserve Police Force soldier. One civilian and at least seven security personnel were also injure. Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and directed all security agencies to “work in mission mode and ensure quick response in a coordinated manner”
