Ministry of Interior Modified on Saturday Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act granting more power to lieutenant governor.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued revised law under section 55 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019 with new provisions for further empowerment of Lieutenant Governor.
Manoj Sinha has been serving LG Jammu and Kashmir since August 2020.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has released a notification prescribing the rules of appointment and transfer for Administrative Secretaries as well as All India Service officers.
For this reason, recommendations touching on these issues should be made by the Administrative Secretary, General Administration Department, through Principal secretary to the local government. Additionally, such proposals which shall also require Finance Ministry concurrence along with it,” must be forwarded to the Chief Secretary for approval or disapproval by the local government in which case it will exercise its discretion.”
“Except from when the chief secretary takes up such a proposal after submission that he has received permission from Lieutenant Governor” it says in this notice.
