In the next 5 days, IMD has warned that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions will continue in the region.
Additionally, on Sunday, the IMD issued a red alert for Delhi stating that temperatures would range from 28 to 44 degrees Celsius.
The IMD also indicated that there might be a few districts in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh; parts of Rajasthan; Uttar Pradesh; Himachal Pradesh; Madhya Pradesh; Odisha; Gujarat and Saurashtra Heat wave weather.
According to Naresh Kumar who is a senior scientist at the IMD, this condition is likely to persist for about another week if it does not rain over northern India. He further added that “May tends to be warmest month in general. If there are no pre-monsoon showers over Northwest India, temperatures generally get above 45 degree C. This trend will continue until next week.” It states that this situation will hold true and beyond for which the state of Rajasthan as well as Punjab and Haryana will experience them continuously within five days
Furthermore, for the next four or five days, IMD has released an advisory indicating heat-wave conditions over different districts in Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile according to an announcement by IMB on its webpage heavy rains are probable in southern part of India.
