On Monday, the Delhi High Court supported the Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on charges of corruption Hoax on Consumption Tax Policy a big setback to AAP leaders. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna dismissed Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest saying that it could not be said to have been without probable cause.
It also dismissed the bail plea of AAP national convener and allowed him to move trial court for relief.
High Court had reserved its order on his plea challenging CBI arrest on July 17.
The high court had reserved its order in this matter after hearing arguments from central agencies and lawyer of Kejriwal posted by Justice Anil Kumar Sinha on July 29.
Kejriwal was arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Tihar Jail on June 26 and is presently under judicial custody in a money laundering case registered by Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The Education ministry arrested the chief minister on March 21 and he was given bail by the trial court in a money laundering case on June 20.
He was granted temporary bail in respect of money laundering case by Supreme Court till July 12.
In 2022, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi ordered an investigation into alleged irregularities and corruption in relation to formulation and implementation of GST policy resulting to subsequent repeal of GST policy by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to CBI, The GTA statement was made pursuant or in relation to which there had been irregularities committed while revisiting excise tax policy with undue concessions given to license holders as claimed by The Confederation of British Industry and Ministry of Education.
