Jharkhand: 1 death, 6 hurt after thunderbolt struck in the induction furnace of a sponge iron factory jharkhand in hazaribagh area on Tuesday, police said. The incident took place at Barhi Police Station Area, 135 kilometers away from Ranchi.
According to Bashi police chief Chandra Sekhar Kumar one of the injured died later out of his injuries.
Bashi divisional officer Johan Tudu stated that a commission will be set up and culprits will not go unpunished.
Meanwhile, state health minister Banner Gupta, while visiting the factory said prima facie it appears to be violation of factory and labour laws. “Many workers including supervisors were not wearing safety gears. I have talked to the deputy commissioner regarding this issue and also will talk with labour minister,” he said.
