Tuesday a bomb threat email was sent to the Coimbatore International Airport by an unidentified person.
The CISF Bomb Detection and Disposal squad (BDDS) and CISF Sniffer Dog squad (CISF) combed the airport premises but declared it a hoax bomb threat.
Initial investigations revealed that this unknown person had sent the same bomb threat email to 40 airports in India at around 12:40pm on Tuesday.
The Coimbatore International Airport authorities noticed the mail at about 1.30 pm and informed CISF and Coimbatore City Police.
In his email, the sender wrote, “A bomb has been planted in the airport which may detonate any time.”
S Senthil Valavan, who is in charge of Coimbatore International Airport remarked that “We are on alert mode and have taken all precautions. It’s not specifically threatening emails; we’ve gone for more strict security measures at the airport″
It did not affect movement of flights, he added. A prank bomb threat mail.
