In addition to having Hussain for six decades, he also had a film career. He has appeared in several films including Saaz, Heat and Dust and most recently Saaz, Heat and Dust. Dev Patel’s directorial debut “monkey man” will be released in the United States in 2024.
In a clip from the film that has gone viral on the internet, the maestro can be seen making a cameo appearance as a tabla drummer. Hussain’s character sits in the corner, tabla in hand, providing the rhythm for Patel’s character to punch the punching bag. Patel’s character struggles to keep up with the pace, which only gets faster and faster. Combining rhythmic tabla beats with gripping action scenes, the clip powerfully symbolizes Hussain’s skill in fusing Indian classical music with different genres, including global cinema.
