
New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday opened up about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership style, calling him a “demanding and interactive boss”.
The External Affairs Minister was speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations of the Aditya Birla Group Scholarship Scheme in Mumbai. When asked about PM Modi’s leadership style, Jaishankar explained that the prime minister wants to be well prepared for discussions and remain interactive.
“I have evaluation meetings every day. In a way, I would say he is a really demanding boss. I say that because he is prepared. If you are discussing something, you have to be prepared. Be well prepared.
Jaishankar stressed that unlike leaders who predetermined outcomes, the Prime Minister encouraged open dialogue and exchange of views.
“He’s a very interactive boss. You know, some bosses have already made up their minds before you even talk to them. His way of decision-making is very interactive. There’s a certain back-and-forth, back-and-forth,” Jaishankar added.
He cited the example of the evacuation of Indian nationals from Ukraine, where Prime Minister Modi made a quick and decisive call while empowering his team to take action.
“He got a call and asked us to get people out and take necessary measures. But then he gave you freedom of movement. It’s not that he wasn’t following you, he wasn’t micromanaging you. He wasn’t going to second-guess you, ” he added. .
‘India is not nervous about the United States‘
During the interaction, Jaishankar also added that India is not “nervous” about Donald Trump returning to the White House. Responding to concerns about changing global power dynamics, Jaishankar acknowledged the shift from West to East and pointed to India as a prime example of this change, with its growing economic clout, rising global rankings, and the global influence of Indian businesses and businesses Keep expanding.
