It was reported by AFP that Russia had launched a missile strike on the Ukrainian capital Kiev on Monday, killing over 20 people.
The attack also brought down a children’s hospital and there are some worries that several others may be trapped under the wreckage.
“This is one of the worst attacks. This is a children’s hospital,” said Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko as he stood near a building that has been destroyed beyond recognition, according to Reuters.
Zelensky also confirmed that some individuals were trapped beneath the ruins of the Children’s Hospital.
On social media, Zelensky wrote: “Over 40 different kinds of rockets. There are damaged residential buildings here. Infrastructure including children’s hospitals.”
According to Zelensky, an unknown number of people have actually been in this Ohmatit Children’s Hospital which lies under debris and it is not clear on how many have died.
Zelensky wrote on social media: “People are still covered with ruins while these damages haven’t set any amount they took away lives exactly. Now everyone is helping to clean up debris – doctors and ordinary people alike.”
Earlier today city officials announced seven dead in artillery fire against Kiev.
