Marnus Labuschagne After Jasprit Bumrah’s match against Australia, it is another clash with the Indian fast bowlers back on home turf for the Border Gavaskar Trophy later in the year. But one fight Labuschagne cannot wait for is against Fast bowler Mohammad Siraj.
Recently, an interview given by the Australian batsman to Star Sports proved crucial to narrating the plot of events how Siraj happened to become a pivotal figure in the life of the batsman and their careers progressed simultaneously.
Happy to put it this way is, Labuschagne, 30. ‘I loved the fight against Mohammaed Siraj for many reasons’. ‘We were in fact in the academy in 2015-16. He was in the MRF academy then. Work, we were working against each other and that was when I first bumped into him.
After playing 50 Test matches, the Australian recalled the “energy” that Siraj provides on the field.
“His enthusiasm, energy and love for this game is amazing. It is good to look back and see our careers evolve such that almost from these experiences.”
The Indian bowler, who is also 30 years old and has played 27 tests, has got 74 wickets. He will next be seen playing in the two-match test series against home on Bangladesh game starting September 19 in Chennai.
Come October, Bangladesh will tour India after Bangladesh’s series in September in which India will play New Zealand in a three-test series before the team travels Australia for the first year span of the Border Gavaskar Trophy which will be in five test matches for the first time.
The over mention of 10 Tests is the part of ICCT Test Championship cycle and these results will decide if India will still be at the top position in the WTC points table or still in the top 2 for the third consecutive time to participate again in the WTC finals this June.
