All eyes are on the sky in Trinidad semi-final Guyana after South Africa’s fairytale trip to Afghanistan T20 World Cup. Heavy rain threatens to spoil the atmosphere of the second semi-final between India and defending champions England.
Although temperatures are expected to stay in the early thirties throughout the day, lingering concern is about rain and thunderstorms particularly as no reserve days have been provided for second semifinals. Or no result, if play is not possible due to rain or bad weather, India will progress to final against top-seeded South Africa from Group 1 of Super Eights phase.
To conclude the second semi-final extra 250 minutes have been allotted by ICC which gives match officials almost eight hours to put together a match, provide a result and a winner. The scheduled start time is 10:30 am which equates to 8 pm Indian Standard Time (IST).
As shown in below screenshot from accuweather.com, which says it is currently sunny in Guyana.
Breathing is probably due to the presence of intermittent clouds, sunshine or a few afternoon showers.
With rain interruptions the match may go into extra time, so it will likely last longer than expected for Guyana and extend into the evening hours, thereby allowing the effects of afternoon and evening weather patterns.
This is what Guyana’s weather should be like on June 27th:
Morning (61% cloud cover)
Afternoon (76% cloud cover)
Night (95% cloud cover)
