On Sunday, as Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) prepared for their much anticipated IPL final against Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH), there was an abrupt downfall.
While Sunrisers Hyderabad were having a day off, Kolkata Knight Riders were supposed to have practiced under floodlights during the evening.
However, just after the players had started their usual warm-up game of football, rain began to pour forcing them indoors. However, despite the players’ effort to find shelter from the raindrops, ground attendants succeeded in covering up the fourth pitch which is slotted for Sunday’s final match.
NO FORECAST OF RAIN
There are no forecasts predicting that it will rain on Sunday; however it will be cloudy throughout and low humidity levels are expected.
However, there is a slight chance of rain due to Cyclone Remal towards Tamil Nadu’s capital in north Bay of Bengal.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE IPL FINAL IS WASHED OUT?
If the games are washed out on Sunday then another day is set aside when weather conditions should be favorable for cricket.
In case rain interrupts the IPL 2024 finals, Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method will be applied to adjust matches accordingly.
The rescheduled match will take place on Monday if there isn’t any play at all because of continuous rainfall till late evening or even morning next day.
If it rains on that reserve day also then IPL 2024 winner would be determined based on the points table only
At present The Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) who are resting atop in that situation would collect the trophy.
