As an individual in charge, Pat Cummins has been largely successful at the top level of the game. Currently, he is about to make another significant milestone in his already impressive career by winning the IPL trophy.
The Australian captain has had a stunning run since the previous year, leading his national side to victories in the World Test Cricket Championship and ODI World Cup.
On Sunday, for the 2024 IPL final, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be led by Cummins as they face off against former champions Kolkata Knight Riders. He would want to take them to their second ever title in history of this tournament.
His video going viral on social media before Saturday’s game where during a press conference he could be seen intently watching footage of MS Dhoni’s batting.
The fact that Cummins pays so much attention to Dhoni’s method and style means former Indian skipper continues to shape cricket.
Cummins’ assessment of how his team performed throughout this tournament season was attributed success to a combination of experience and youngsters.
“It’s been huge. We have quite an experienced bowling line-up, including (Jaydev) Unadkat and Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar). Also, so many youngsters have come through and have won us games by themselves, like Nitish (Reddy) and Abhishek (Sharma).
“We also have guys who have been away from the Indian setup but they have been fantastic. So that’s been our team,” he said.
