Being a good human who is humble and being a superstar in the entertainment industry are two things that are not the same.
And it is this side of him which Kolkata Knight Riders cricketers look up to.
KKR became the first team to reach IPL 2024 final after crushing Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in Qualifier 1 at Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
Shah Rukh Khan was seen taking a lap of the ground thanking his fans while giving his signature pose, hugging players with KKR captain Shreyas Iyer and all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer commending their co-owner as an inspiration; Indian Premier League’s official X handle shared this video after the match.
Venkatesh Iyer says, “I think it speaks volumes of the man that he is. We’ve always seen him on the screen mesmerizing people with his aura but to not just be an owner of the franchise but to be an elder brother figure for us. He guides us constantly.”
Shreyas Iyer says, “His presence itself gets that zest in the team environment and the attitude and approach automatically changes. There (points at head) you see when boys came onto field and everyone wanted to chip in with their contributions and everyone delivered at right time.”
Venkatesh Iyer adds, “I think his pep talk had not just lifted me but Nitish Rana who was dealing with injuries. To come back from injury and perform is a really big task. He’s (SRK) here but he won’t be able to hear me so he’s a great great franchise owner.”
Shreyas Iyer (58*) and Venkatesh Iyer (51*) combined for an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 97 off only 6 plus overs and helped KKR register victory.
KKR have made their fourth IPL final, having won the Qualifier 1 in four years since 2018.
