At the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai this week, a few American artificial intelligence products are showcased with Optimus Prime Tesla being among them. But this one is different because behind the glass it stands and does not interact with visitors as it has its own neural network and computer vision technology that make it an all-purpose machine of tomorrow.
These robots are however not yet commercialized as they are currently under development to be used in education, health care and manufacturing sectors in China. High cost is a serious hindrance as every robot can reach about $70,000-100,000. However, Tesla Optimus is expected to sell at less than $30,000.
Kuavo by Leju Robotics uses an operating system based on Huawei’s Open Harmony. On the other hand, their software engineer Wu Changxuan pointed out that challenges in developing software for these robots go beyond the complexity of hardware.
China meanwhile has set itself an ambitious target: mass production of humanoid robots by 2025.
