The incident that triggered the protest took place on December 13 when Armed Reserve (AR) police handcuffed Heerya Naik after arresting him. Naik, who suffers from a heart condition, was later escorted to the hospital for a medical examination, with two AR policemen accompanying him while he remained restrained.
An audio recording showing Naik being transported in handcuffs in a police van and receiving medical treatment went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.
In response to the incident, the senior jail authorities of Sangareddy district jail conducted an investigation and held the jailer accountable and subsequently suspended him.
As per internal orders, the jailer sought the services of AR personnel in Bala Nagar and not the Vikarabad authorities.
Meanwhile, Telangana police sources said the incident was a conspiracy hatched by a key accused in the case, who is currently on judicial remand.
