Vinesh Phogat, the arm of a punch to one silver medal after she was dramatically disqualified from the women’s 50kg freestyle competition in Paris Olympics this court of arbitration for sports (CAS) will hear the Indian athlete’s plea on Friday and would be represented by top lawyer Harish OintmentAccording to sources

The hearing is expected to take place at 1 pm (IST) on Friday with an interim ruling likely to be issued in the next few hours.

Vinesh was found to weigh 100 grams above her limit during her 50kg gold medal match’s morning second official weigh-in resulting disqualification.

CAS accepted Vinesh’s request upon evaluation finding it having enough merits last Thursday.

Cuba’s Yosnelis Guzman Lopez took Vinesh’ spot in the final when Vinesh herself was disqualified. But that Cuban lost in the final match against eventual gold medalist from USA Sarah Hildebrandt.

Vinesh became India’s first woman wrestler to reach an Olympic final and could become the nation’s first female individual gold medalist at an Olympic Games.

However, she announced her retirement after spending some 31 hours since winning semifinal “Alvida Kushti (wrestling),” she wrote in a post on X. “My courage is broken and I don’t have any strength now,” read further the post which was written in Hindi

Last Tuesday started with an incredible last-16 victory over reigning Olympic champion and four-time world champion Yui Susaki of Japan who had never won a single international match before losing today as well (82-0).

This way vine speedily passed through quarterfinals against Oksana Livach (Ukraine) 7-5 and semifinals against Lopez (Cuba) 5-0 into gold medal fight.
