Vande Metro officially launched: PM Modi to launch new Indian Railways trains today; check routes, fares, timetables, stops and popular features

Vande Metro to launch today: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to launch the first Vande Metro train service of Indian Railways today. Indian Railways’ new trains offer short-distance premium travel experience to the common man and unreserved passengers on non-suburban sections.
Indian Railways’ first Vande Metro fully air-conditioned train service will run between Ahmedabad and Bhuj in Gujarat.
Developed on the same platform as Vande Bharat Express, Vande Metro train is a self-propelled train set designed for short-distance intercity travel. However, unlike Vande Bharat semi-high-speed 160 km/h trains, Vande Metro trains have a maximum speed limit of 130 km/h.

Wande Metro fare structure

The minimum charged fare is Rs 30 including GST.
The season ticket price of weekly, bi-weekly and monthly tickets is equivalent to Wande Metro 7, 15 and 20 one-way.
Charged fare will be rounded up to the next higher multiple of Rs. 5

Indian Railways officials told TOI that Vande Metro fares have remained “affordable” and lower compared to AC train fares on the Mumbai local network.

Vande Metro routes, timetables and stops

The Bhuj-Ahmedabad Vande Metro train number 94802 will depart from Bhuj at 5:05 am and is expected to arrive in Ahmedabad at 10:50 am. The whole journey will take 5 hours and 45 minutes. Later in the day, the return train number 94801 Ahmedabad-Bhuj Vande Metro will depart Ahmedabad at 5:30 pm and arrive in Bhuj at 11:10 pm, taking 5 hours and 40 minutes. .
During the journey, the train will stop at various stations including Anjar, Gandhidham, Bhachau, Samakhiali, Halvad, Dhrangadhra, Viramgam, Chandlodiya and Sabarmati.
Trains run 6 days a week. Train 94802 will not run on Sunday and train 94801 will not run on Saturday.

Vander Metro Features

Vande Metro aims to provide passengers with a “world-class” travel experience. The first rake has been manufactured at ICF, Chennai. Vande Metro is designed to replace the existing mainline EMUs of Indian Railways and provide passengers with a metro-like experience, including seated and standing options. The 12 carriages can accommodate 1,150 seated passengers and 2,058 standing passengers.
Vande Metro boasts a range of features including a top speed of 130km/h, enhanced acceleration and deceleration capabilities and fully sealed tunnels to make movement between carriages easier while maintaining a dust-free environment. Passengers can enjoy comfortable seats and a fully air-conditioned interior environment to ensure a pleasant journey.
The train is equipped with automatic entry/exit doors, KAVACH train anti-collision system, mobile charging sockets and large panoramic sealed windows with roller blinds to ensure the convenience and safety of passengers. Additionally, CCTV cameras and emergency intercoms have been installed for enhanced security. Vande Metro also features modular toilets with vacuum extraction systems, further enhancing the travel experience.
