• A$36,000 over three years for students with outstanding academic performance.
The scholarship amount is determined based on the student’s equivalent Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). As stated by UWA, scholarships can cover the entire duration of a student’s degree, as long as they meet the academic requirements. For example, students studying courses such as the Bachelor of Philosophy (Hons) or the Bachelor of Advanced Computer Science (Honours) can expect to earn up to $48,000 over four years of study.
Students studying for bachelor’s and master’s degrees are also eligible for this scholarship, with some courses offering up to A$60,000 over five years. This includes fields such as engineering, business and certain scientific disciplines.
Attractive scholarships for graduate students
Global Excellence Scholarships are also available to graduate students. Students applying for eligible postgraduate courses in semester 1 2025 will receive up to A$24,000 over two years of study, depending on their academic qualifications. Scholarship amounts for postgraduate students are based on the weighted average score (WAM) of their previous qualifications.
Graduate candidates who meet the minimum WAM requirement of 65.00 are eligible for partial scholarships, while graduate students with higher WAM can receive the maximum scholarship value. Like undergraduate scholarships, postgraduate scholarships are tuition fee reductions that are automatically applied to the recipient’s fees throughout the course.
General Eligibility and Application Process
Students from any country can apply for the Global Excellence Scholarship as long as they have received an offer of admission to an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate program at UWA. To receive consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• undergraduate school: Applicants must have a minimum ATAR of 85.00 or equivalent qualifications. Certain exceptions apply, such as students applying for guaranteed pathways into medicine or dentistry.
• postgraduate: Applicants must have a WAM of at least 65.00. Specific exclusions apply to professional programs such as J.D. and MD.
Importantly, there is no separate application process for the scholarship. The UW Admissions team will automatically evaluate eligibility based on the student’s final transcript. Successful candidates will be notified once admitted to an eligible course and the scholarship will be applied directly towards their tuition fees.

Scholarship renewal extension
To maintain scholarship eligibility, students must continue to meet UW’s established academic requirements. For example, they must maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout their studies. There is no guarantee that scholarships will continue if a student chooses to defer admission, as UW reviews its scholarship offerings annually.
