A father and son duo, both jewelers based in Jaipur, have been accused of swindling a US woman out of 60 million rupees by selling her fake jewellery.

The jewellers Rajendra Soni and Gaurav Soni are alleged to have sold silver chains and moissanite worth Rs 300 which were polished to look like gold as expensive diamonds, And comes with fake certificates.

Nand Kishore, the maker of the counterfeit certificates has been caught by police and they have released an alert notice for the jeweller who is now on the run, said Additional DCP Bajrang Singh.

“They bought a three crore rupee flat in Jaipur from this money,” he added.

This incident came into light after Cherish Nortje lodged a complaint at Manak Chowk Police Station on May 18th. The complainant is an American citizen.

Nortje had been buying gemstone jewellery from Jaipur stores for her business since 2022 as long as she was visiting India.

Nortje, however, found out that her precious jewels were phony when she went to an exhibition in USA during April 2024. This led to her confrontations with these jewelers who she visited again in May resulting to conflict between them.

Rajendra and Gaurav then filed a complaint against Nortje saying that she forcibly took their jewellery from their shop.

However video captured Nothier leaving with the same items she supposedly picked up.

Sitapura also confirmed that indeed they were genuine through another lab before arresting Nand Kishore who admitted that he made the documents following orders from the jeweller.

Main culprits Rajendra and Gaurav are still absconding and police claimed that they were making efforts to apprehend them.

Accordingly, other foreigners complained against him.
