According to a notification by the UPSC – “Advertisement number 54/2024 pertaining to horizontal recruitment …..etc.”, various newspapers have been informed through an advertisement in employment news and on Commission’s website issued on 17th August, 2024 has been withdrawn as per requisitioning department’s request.
Earlier today, Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel and Public Grievances appealed to cancel the ongoing Lateral Entry advertisement by Chairman of UPSC.
The minister explained that this move was part of larger rethink within Government about lateral entry into civil service.
“It has been our endeavor to put a stop to such ad hoc majority lateral entries as were taking place till 2014 including instances of alleged favoritism. We have instead sought to make it institutionally driven process with transparency and openness coming in since then.” The letter reads.
“The Prime Minister is very clear that this call must fall within the constitutional principles of fairness and social justice especially those targeted at reservations.”
