Manoj Soni, the Chief of UPSC Manoj Soni, Chairman of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), has resigned from his post nearly five years before its term expiry in 2029. He cited personal reasons as cause for the resignation. Sources also said that his decision to step down was not influenced by what happened recently about probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar who was accused of submitting fraudulent disability and caste certificates.
Mr.Soni joined UPSC in 2017 and since May 16, 2023, has served as the chairperson. UPSC is a major constitutional body whose functions include conducting the Civil Services Examination (CSE) which selects candidates for top government positions such as IAS, IPS and IFS.
