New Delhi: sajwadi party (SP) The list of six candidates for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly by-elections was announced on Wednesday without discussion with the India Bloc, a group of rival parties to the Bharatiya Janata Party aiming to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha polls proposed an alternative front.
“The Samajwadi Party has not yet indian union The coordination committee also did not keep it secret from us (before releasing the names),” UP Congress chief Avinash Pandey told news agency ANI.

Uttar Pradesh is scheduled to hold by-elections for 10 assembly seats later this year, including Katehari (Ambedkar Nagar), Karhal (Mainpuri), Milkipur (Ayodhya), Meerapur (Muzaffarnagar), Ghaziabad, Majhawan (Mirzapur), Sisamau (Kanpur city) ), Khair (Aligarh), Phulpur (Prayagraj) and Kundarki (Moradabad).
Nine of the seats (excluding Sisamau) became vacant after their provincial councilors were elected to the Lok Sabha.
Ajit Prasad From Mirkipur (Ayodhya): For the Mirkipur seat vacated by sitting Ayodhya MP Awadesh Prasad, the party has chosen his son Ajit Prasad Ajit Prasad as candidate.
Mustafa Siddiqui MP from Prayagraj: The party has nominated Mustufa Siddiqui as its candidate from Prayagraj, a seat that was earlier thought to be reserved for India Group partner Congress party.
Naseem Solanki From West Samau: By-election voting is underway in West Samau after provincial councilor Irfan Solanki was disqualified due to conviction in a criminal case. SP has nominated MLA Irfan Solanki’s wife Naseem for the seat.
The party has fielded Shobhawai Verma and Jyodi Bind from Katehari and Majhwan seats respectively.
Interestingly, this development comes just a day after the Congress, one of the major political parties of the Indian bloc, suffered a huge setback in the Haryana assembly polls as it managed only to win in the 90-member House of Representatives. 37 seats, nine seats short of the majority mark.
