Speaking at a rally in Wilmington, Trump said, “The voting has begun…and now she wants to debate CNN before the election because she lost so badly.”
The former president noted that he has participated in two debates while Harris has participated in one.
Vice President Harris’ campaign chairwoman Jen O’Malley Dillon stressed the need for another debate between the two prominent candidates. “The American people deserve another chance to see Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump debate before the vote. Having just one general election debate is unprecedented in modern history,” CNN CNN quoted her as saying.
She further said that Trump should have no problem agreeing to the debate.
“The debates provide voters with a unique opportunity to see the candidates standing side by side and evaluate their competing visions for America,” Dillon added.
Dillon announced on Saturday that Harris had accepted an invitation from CNN to debate Trump. “Vice President Harris is ready to share the stage with Donald Trump again, and she has accepted CNN’s invitation to participate in the October 23 debate,” she said.
The format and setting of the proposed debate would be similar to the June debate between Trump and the President Joe BidenThe show was held at CNN’s Atlanta studios without a live audience, CNN reported.
