According to Kevin Rojack, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office, the identity and motive of the shooter remain unclear. The crime scene remains active, Rojack said, but there is no ongoing threat following the shooting.
“I don’t know how he got to where he was, but he was out there. I think we have to figure out how he got there,” Goldinger said. He confirmed that one rally participant died during the incident and another was in serious condition in hospital.
The U.S. Secret Service said “multiple shots were fired at the stage from an elevated position outside the rally venue,” killing one spectator and seriously injuring two others. The gunman was also killed, but no further details were provided.
