Washington: A judge who is a former corporate civil attorney and has biology background in her past who was selected to sit on the bench by the same political rival of the Biden family as former president Donald Trump.
However, there were concerns that politics may have influenced her nomination amid partisan resentments and questions about whether this high-profile case was due to political pressure. Two Democratic senators recommended District Judge Marilyn Noreka for the position.
Contrarily, she had not presided over any criminal matters or heard a trial before joining the federal judiciary. According to New York Times, Ms. Noreka registered as a democrat from 2000 until 2020 when she changed her affiliation to non-partisan.
The trial revealed some of President’s son darkest moments including drug addiction which happened on her watch. International media struggled outside courtrooms trying to get shots of the first family members coming in and exiting courts.
When asked during her Senate hearing, she admired judges who are prepared and ”ready to listen and give litigants an opportunity to be heard …because they want people to feel like their voices are heard and they received fair hearings.” “Chance”
As per U.S. legal system rules, should he be found guilty, Hunter Biden might spend up to twenty five years behind bars. However he well may evade prison as his status qualifies him for a sentence far below this ceiling.
If confirmed, I will do my best impose a sentence like that but it’s not too much necessary .and will hear requests for clemency all sides including argumentative statements given by victims,” wrote Noreka in response o question posed by Vice President Kamala Harris concerning sentencing.
Born on January 30, 1964 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Noreka attended Lehigh University where she graduated from in 1988 with a Bachelor’s degree. Later on in 1990she earned a Master’s degree in biology from Columbia University.
Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell, a Delaware law firm employed Noreika for the next 25 years and she became a partner in 2001. Most of her work is in federal civil litigation involving intellectual property rights.She says she “tried at least 30” cases either to verdict or final decision, only a few of which were jury trials.
As an ad litem child guardian pro bono in Delaware Family Court, she worked for fifteen years wrote Noreka.
Her role as judge in Hunter Biden’s criminal trial was thrust into the limelight making her a subject of political parties’ conjecture.
This occurred in 2023 when Noreka questioned certain provisions of that agreement thus torpedoed it.
