There have been reports of rape in Legar, Chhattisgarh where an alleged gang rape involving a tribal woman and eight people took place after she returned from the village market on that day of Raksha Bandhan which was August 19. The police arrested six suspects in this case on that Monday night and others are being pursued.
The incident happened in psauer region Raigarh. She went to meena bazaar, Raigarh after breaking up with her husband some past few years ago.
While walking back home with another man, she met other seven men who knew the man. This allowed the accused to be his mates who decided to sexually assault her.
Forced by eight men to a hidden location close to a pond where they all had sex with her one after another before leaving her for dead.
When she woke up, she managed to walk into a nearby police station where she claimed that she was raped by eight men whom she named several as well as told them that they were from their own village. The FIR was registered by the Police on Tuesday.
Within hours following the complaint, six of them were nabbed while others are being traced, said Raigarh SP Divyang Patel. They were charged under Sections 70(1) and 351(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Using this method will enable us solve crime patterns related to these fugitive criminals as soon as possible’ said the same officer. When asked how they would go about apprehending these criminal elements through interviews conducted by our reporter.
Those arrested range between 20 and 25 year old unemployed males only, who focused on this married woman. Because they saw her vulnerability since her marriage had ended some time back.
She got primary health care and now is reportedly stable.
