
BHOPAL: An assistant sub-inspector lost his arm and a police constable was injured while trying to recover the bodies of two passengers who fell from a moving train on railway tracks in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district.
The incident occurred at around 8pm on Sunday at Bandakpur railway station when ASI Rajendra Mishra and a police officer responded to reports of death of passengers on the railway tracks.
As they tried to lift the body, an oncoming train hit them, seriously injuring them. ASI Mishra’s arm was severed and the police officer was also injured and rendered unconscious. Both were immediately rushed to hospital and ASI Mishra was shifted to Jabalpur for further treatment.
Damoh SP Shrut Kirti Somvanshi said Mishra may be airlifted to a larger hospital if required. The investigation is ongoing.
