Another disputed decision by match officials in the Indian Premier League 2024 A controversy has erupted during Rajasthan Royals’ modest knockout clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday. This season has seen many dubious judgments adding to the argument about poor officiating standards in the Championship.
During the fifteenth over, RCB’s batsman Dinesh Karthik was leg before wicket for Avish KhanNevertheless, Karthik quickly sought a referral.
Karthik tried to hook it over his shoulder into gully and ended up ball glancing off his pads. There were significant spikes on UltraEdge which indicated that there might have been some contact, but whether it had been the bat’s pad or inside edge was difficult to make out.

The same video shows commentator Ravi Shastri expressing dissatisfaction with RR referring to the referee’s decision as unfair.
“Dinesh Karthik is clearly out. It’s very harsh on RR here,” said Shastri while commenting on air. The umpire must have checked four or five reviews before making this call,” he added.
Former England internationals Kevin Pietersen and Michael Vaughan criticized this move arguing that such mistakes should never happen at this level.
