Police said Bishoi, a resident of Gokulnagar panchayat area in Nandigram Sector 1, appeared to have been beaten to death.
“It appears that the man was beaten to death. Both his legs were broken. There were signs of injury on his hands. We have received a complaint from his family and have initiated an investigation.
The TMC claimed that the PPP workers had “murdered” Bishoi and demanded the immediate arrest of the murderers.
TMC Nandigram 1 block president Bappaditya Garg said, “He was an active worker of the party. BJP supporters killed him. A few days ago, another party worker was killed .
The BJP refuted the TMC’s claims and said Bishoi’s death was the result of internal strife in the party in which the saffron party had no role.
Meghnagh Paul, general secretary of the Tamluk branch of the BJP, said: “There is no political competition behind this. Yesterday, they were drinking at a picnic and a fight broke out, after which Bishoy was murdered.
