New Delhi: Travel Booking Professional OYO Introduced new check-in policy for partner hotels starting from meerutintroduced guidelines that take effect this year and unmarried couples are no longer welcome. OYO has authorized its partner hotels to reject bookings from couples at their discretion, in line with local social sensitivities, the company said.
OYO has issued directives to partner hotels in Meerut with immediate effect. People familiar with the matter said the company may expand the measure to more cities based on feedback from the ground.
“OYO has received feedback from civil society groups in the past, especially in Meerut, urging action to address the issue. Additionally, residents of several other cities have also petitioned to ban unmarried couples from staying at OYO hotels,” they said.

The company said the move is part of OYO’s plan to transform outdated perceptions and establish itself as a brand that provides a safe experience for families, students, business, religious and solo travellers.
Additionally, the program is designed to encourage longer stays and repeat bookings, thereby enhancing Customer trust and loyalty.
OYO has launched pan-India initiatives such as conducting joint workshops with police and hotel partners on safe hospitality, blacklisting hotels that reportedly promote unethical activities, and taking action against hotels using the OYO brand without authorization.
