Naupada police, Thane, arrested two individuals who stole a cell phone with racket linked to Nepal. The duo was charged with the theft of twenty four mobile phones valued at 5 lakh rupees from all corners of Thane city.
First Arrest “On April 22nd this year, the police officer said, Faiz Wahid Shaikh aged 20 years was caught by local law enforcement officers after studying hours and hours of CCTV footage.”
The second arrest in Majewada State, Thane took place on August 10th, 2024. For four months Momin has been avoiding arrest. ‘Momin accepted six criminal cases and revealed he had contacts abroad who were involved in these criminal activities that involved theft of cell phones and they were sent to Nepal from Mumbai via Madhya Pradesh,’ says the same police officer.
The detectives have also discovered two bikes used in perpetrating this crime as well as twenty four stolen mobile handsets worth five hundred thousand naira. These also arrests have helped solve several instances including those under sections 392 (robbery) and section 379 (theft) in the Indian Penal Code.
“We are committed to tackling street crime and keeping our communities safe,” Deshmukh commented while acknowledging his team efforts during an interview with Commissioner of Police Vinayak Deshmukh.
This investigation is still ongoing at this particular thane police station for them to establish how far this fraud has extended mainly looking at allegations made about any connection to Nepal. “We are investigating this case along with its possible ramifications through connection between other accused persons concerning the snatching away of mobile phones,” added the cop.
