U.S. residents in scorching heat also joined yoga day celebrations that were held in Texans and other neighboring countries at the Consulate General of India, Houston (computer generated image).
CGI Houstonalso encompassed states around Texans such as Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
The month-long event themed “Yoga for Self and Society” is planned to enhance better beingness and oneness through various activities including workshops, demonstrations, group yoga exercises among others.
CGI Houston also hosted an event on June 18 at the NASA Johnson Space Center in partnership with NASA, Space Center Houston,and Rasa Yoga.
Enthusiastic audiences are drawn to iconic venues like Mahatma Gandhi Memorial in Dallas; the Capitol in Austin; San Antonio Riverwalk; NASA; India House and Discovery Greenin Houston. Classes led by experienced yoga instructors combine meditation with dynamic exercisesand restorative breathing techniques thereby creating an environment of rejuvenation and community spirit.
A statement from the Indian Consulate in Houston read: “The Consulate celebrated #InternationalYogaDay2024 with India House Houstonand various partner organizations of @indiahouse. Members of the Indian American community, consular corps and elected officials enthusiastically participated Yoga classes as well as meditation sessions.
Manjunath said: “It is clear that yoga has become a unifying force bringing people from different cultures together. It’s awesome to see young people showing such thrill for a mental yoga class.
Other states such as Washington State, New York City, San Francisco Cityand Chicago City also commemorate Yoga Day.
